An 8-to-10-inch diameter works beautifully to match your holiday porch theme.
Sturdy metal rods or hollow stakes that fit your sign's mounting brackets just right.
A little non-stick cooking spray works great if you want to slide the concrete out later.
Give the inside of your plastic buckets or decorative planters a light coat of spray lubricant if you want to slide the concrete block out later. If you're keeping it in a permanent holiday planter, you can skip this step altogether.
Stir up your quick-setting concrete according to the package directions. Pour it evenly into your planters, leaving about two inches of breathing room at the top.
Pop your metal rods or ground stakes straight down into the middle of the wet concrete. Just make sure they line up exactly with the spacing on your custom wooden sign's mounting points.
Use a level to make sure your stakes are standing nice and straight. Let the concrete dry completely for 24 to 48 hours until it's rock-solid.
